Are films like Pathan relevant?

Post Sushant Singh Rajput death and  COVID 19, we as bollywood viewers and audiences have evolved so much and our perspective towards films have drastically changed.

Indian viewers and audiences now prefer real life stories more than just a filmy over the top cringe drama. Gone are the days when the public stormed into the theatres for watching just a lusty item song and the so called "badla"or revenge plot in the films with over the top action scenes of no relevance.

Now, the new age directors try to do something out of the box not just to entertain the audience but also to give underlined message to the society. Films like 'Kantara' and 'The Kashmir files' proved that only high budget and publicity cannot make a film popular and hit among the viewers both commercially and critically. Now, North Indian people are so much inclined towards the south film industries not just because they give fantastic cinematography and mass appeal but also because their story line and script make the audiences sit and guess what will happen next !!

Movies like "RRR" KGF 2" and "Pushpa" proved to be a tight slap to those who earlier presumed that South movies cannot match the standard of Bollywood ever. Interesting story lines and unexpected plot twists made these movies popular among the unprivileged and privileged sectors of the society.

Year 2023 starts with high budget and star packed movie like 'Pathan'. Shahrukh Khan starrer movie is in controversy even before its release due to the outfit of Besharam rang song featuring Deepika Padukone by the nasty " bycott gang "

Let's hope that films like Pathan and Bhola focuses more on content rather than cringey dialogues and irrelevant songs in between the stories and also the predictable climax scenes . We know that Bollywood industry gives employment to millions of people which includes technicians, makeup artists, lightman, spot boys, background dancers, choreographers ,caterers and so on..

Keeping all these in mind, it is also the duty of film sensor board, the central & state governments and public themself to support small budget good films and uplift the society and make Indian cinema contribute both morally and economically to the nation.
