Why 'government' jobs demand in Bihar is so high?

Bihar, when we hear about this state of India, most of us have two images that comes in our mind. The first, of course, villagers having rifles and guns and they cheewing 'pan masala' in their mouths. The second image is of the 'padhaaku' students preparing for prestigious government jobs like UPSC, state PCS,SSC, railways etc .

Bihar of the past..

Bihar shares a glorious past in the history of ancient India. Magadh, which was the centre of power during the resume of bimbisara and of course, Chandragupta Maurya. It was the most powerful Mahajanpada among all the 16 Mahajanpadas of the ancient times. Even the neighbourhood countries were stunned when they saw the 'richness' of Magadha and many of them wrote about the 'glory' of Bihar in those days.

The  education 'hub'

Bihar was not only the power point of ancient India, but it was also the education hub of almost whole Asia. The Nalanda University made by palas was the mega centre for education. Experience and students from all over India and the world came here to enroll in various streams of education every year. Travelers specially from Japan China Indonesia and Thailand came here to enrich knowledge about Buddhist  Jain texts and contemporary India at that time. Many scholars like Aryabhatta, Vishnu Gupta, Hein-sang etc. are the products of the educational centres of Bihar. So every Indian should celebrate the ancient culture and knowledge of Bihar and 'Bihari' mindset.

The present scenario..

Images decline in the educational system of Bihar was witnessed post independence. Weather it was Congress Raj, the RJD imfamously known 'Jungle Raj' or the present so called 'Sushasan Babu' Raj, educational and employment hunger is prevailing after independence. Nothing much is changed in terms of quality education and employment generation here.

The youth is migrating to other cities of India in search of quality education and job opportunity. As, there are neither prestigious universities nor big factories & MNCs and other institutions in which the youth can get good job  opportunities.

The 'sarkari' bukhar

As mentioned above, due to the lack of good educational and job opportunity the youth that fails to stay in other parts of the country, start preparing for government exams instead of getting admitted on professional degree courses. Because the parents and the child himself, things that he or she would crack the government examinations without much investment and leader comfortable life there after. But the actual path of getting a sarkari job is not that easy these days. The seats are negligible in front of millions of the aspirant craving for the sarkari job. The success percentage of a government job aspirant is less than 2% in most of the exams. The 'corruption factor' in various exams is also a major reason due to which most of the students remain unemployed here in Bihar. Even the prestigious exams like BPSC and Bihar SSC came in 'radar' of the corruption.

The way ahead..

Both the state and Central Government should realise their responsibility of giving quality education and jobs creation for the youth here. The government should give more stress on sharpening the skills of youth instead of just a formal and normal school college degree. The private sector doors must be opened for every youth of Bihar. Also, the corruption during various exams should be strictly monitored and prohibited.

'Bihari' youth should also maintain the dignity of their past culture and knowledge of the scholars and kings of ancient Bihar and try to inculcate them in their thoughts and express in their  'deeds'
